International Economics and Trade (Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools) at Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) is a national first-class undergraduate program in China. Adhering to the talent training concept of “Global Vision, Civic Awareness, Creative Thinking, and Overall Excellence”, the program focuses on developing international and innovative talents.
Program Overview
International Economics and Trade is a Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools at the undergraduate level approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2015. In 2021, the program was approved as a national first-class undergraduate program. Specifically, this program is a joint educational program between Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) and Clark University (Massachusetts, US) that focuses on the integration of new technologies with international economics and trade as well as combining the traditional mode of trade with new business formats such as digital trade. Since recruiting students in 2015, the program has enrolled 100 students per year.
Talent Cultivation
In the past three years, approximately 60% of our graduates have obtained offers for master’s programs. Among those who chose to go abroad, over 77% were admitted by the world’s top universities, such as Johns Hopkins University, University College London (UCL), Columbia University, Nanyang Polytechnic University, the University of Hong Kong, and the Australian National University. More than 17% of graduates were admitted by top universities in mainland China, such as Peking University, Fudan University, China University of Science and Technology, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, the Central University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and the University of International Business and Economics. In terms of employment, students have been recruited by enterprises such as Huawei, ByteDance, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, CITIC Securities, Guoyuan Securities, China Construction Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, and Schneider Electric.
Teaching Achievements
The program was approved by the Chinese MOE as a 2021 “National First-Class Undergraduate Program.” By encouraging quality engineering project construction and young faculty teaching competitions, etc., the program has been granted about 30 provincial-level honors, such as the Provincial Teaching Team for International Economics and Trade (Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running schools), a provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot for the International Economics and Trade major, the first prize for the Provincial Teaching Achievements Awards, and Promising Teaching Talents.
