Warm greetings from the School of Economics (SOE) at Hefei University of Technology (HFUT)! On October 7 of 2025, Hefei University of Technology will celebrate its 80th anniversary. This is to formally invite you to the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Founding of HFUT. To commemorate the occasion, we have scheduled various activities to provide our university with a unique opportunity to honor its past, celebrate its present, and build its future. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll always have a home on this campus. Homecoming is a perfect opportunity to return to our picturesque campus and see for yourself all of HFUT’s remarkable developments.

Our History: SOE at HFUT

SOE at HFUT was founded in 2011. The school’s history can be traced back to the mid-1980s when SOE offered a major in Industrial Foreign Trade. The school began recruiting undergraduate students to study Trade Economics in 1993, tracing its origins to the Department of Social Sciences at HFUT. The School of Humanities and Economics was established in 1999, later reorganized into the School of Economics in 2011. Through sustained growth, the School's economics discipline has earned increasing recognition. The discipline was ranked 49th-67th in China in ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023. At present, SOE is accredited to grant master’s degrees in Applied Economics and Theoretical Economics and is also authorized to offer a master’s degree in Finance and International Business. The school offers five undergraduate majors. In 2019, SOE’s Financial Engineering major was approved as a “National First-Class Undergraduate Program”. The International Economics and Trade major was also approved as a “National First-Class Undergraduate Program” in 2021. In the same year, the Economics major was approved as a “Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program”. In 2024, we received official approval to recruit undergraduate students majoring in Digital Economy.

The school attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, establishing international talent development program with world-class universities. Over the years, relying on our university’s strengths in engineering, SOE is committed to cultivating high-caliber talents with “Global Vision, Civic Awareness, Creative Thinking, and Overall Excellence”.
