The 5th China Innovation Economic Forum was held at Hefei University of Technology from 3 November 2023 to 5 November 2023. The theme of the Forum was “Building China’s National Innovation System with Chinese Characteristics and Promoting High-Quality Economic Development”. Experts and scholars from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Wuhan University, and Shandong University, as well as government and enterprise representatives, gathered in Anhui to discuss building China’s national innovation system with Chinese characteristics and promoting high-quality economic development.
The Forum consisted of seven parallel forums focusing on topics such as “Industrial Policy and Innovation”, “Corporate Behavior and Innovation”, “Global Economic and Trade Governance and Innovation”, “Low Carbon Economy and Innovation”, “Urban and Regional Innovation”, “Digital Economy and Innovation”, and “Dual Chain Integration and Industrial Innovation”. During the keynote session, delegates shared and exchanged ideas on cutting-edge research in innovation theory and regional and industrial innovation practice around topics such as “Empirical Research and Interaction of Chat GPT”, “Environmental Regulation and Business Competitiveness” and “Transforming Innovation Measurement and Incentives: Constructing New Production Forces and Embarking on the New Journey of China’s Modernization Construction”.
During the roundtable discussion of the Forum, the participating experts and scholars discussed in depth important practical issues, such as how to cultivate innovative talents under the “three-in-one” integrated development model for the development of science, technology, and talents; how to strengthen enterprises’ green innovation with the clustering of the “dual carbon” target; how to promote the innovation chain of manufacturing enterprises through the opening up of the service industry; the “greenwashing” behavior under the fulfillment of ESG responsibilities; and how to leverage the role of government to create an innovation highland.
It was reported that the China Innovation Economic Forum was jointly launched by the magazine “Economic Research” and well-known domestic universities and scientific research institutions. The Forum aims to improve the scientific and technological innovation system and enhance the national strategic scientific and technological strength. It also underscores the importance of discussion and exchanges among professional scholars, and the purpose of creating a platform for close interaction between practitioners in constructing theories, practice, and policy. The Forum has been held for four consecutive years.
